Finding a Shared Vision

Without vision, we shall perish. That's the phrase from Proverbs 29:18 in the Bible. It refers to the need for a clear sense of direction and could be a motto for farm and ranch families transitioning to the next generation. The Keep Farmers Farming Program assists ag producers in finding their vision as a business and family shifting to the next stage, according to Legacy Consultant, Shannon Kubik.
“Vision is something that can be hard to grasp, but ultimately when we think about vision, we just want to make sure that everyone within the operation is aligned on the future of what they want that operation to look like. And so when we walk into any farm or ranch, we have a lot of questions and they have a lot of questions for us, but what we really want to settle in on is making sure that each person within that operation is aligned on where they're heading. And if we can get that vision settled upon, then we can figure out the strategies and tactics to get them to where they want to be.”
Keep Farmers Farming helps families identify and develop their vision, seeking that common ground to move forward. As a group and individually, Kubik explains those in the operation will be asked to share their vision, writing it down to provide clarity. Legacy Consultants can then assist families in fleshing out their vision and the tactics possible to achieve their goals.
“Then what we do is we dive into the actual business through our Profit Finder model and help people understand the capacity of the business today and explore what that could look like into the future.”
